Mr. Brody

I have the pleasure of watching my new nephew a couple days a week. He's a sweetie and is a very good baby!

I was concerned that Natalie would only like to play with toy trains and police cars since she hadn't shown any interest in her baby dolls. Brody solved that problem though. Now I have a little mommy. Natalie carries around her babies, rocks them, feeds them, and hits them and then growls (I'm thinking she's burping them and that the growl is supposed to be a burp).

Scott is a super helper when Brody is here, as well, and is a good cousin.

Here are a few more pictures of my favorite little nephew. In his free time, Brody likes to blow bubbles, smile, and eat. :) We love him!

Three and a Half!

Scott had his half birthday this week. He's growing up soooo fast! He loves to use the word "actually" which I find amusing. He is a great big brother to Natalie. He's been asking us, "When will I go to heaven?" a LOT lately. It's so fun to have such sweet conversations with him. I've tried to jot down for the mommy-record some of the funny things he has said lately which have made me smile.

Scott and I had this strange conversation a few weeks ago after I foolishly informed Scott that Daddy was going deer hunting in the morning.

Scott: What do you do when you deer hunt?
What does hunt mean?
What does kill mean?

Me: (I gave several roundabout answers in an attempt to gently answer his questions. I then tried to divert the conversation to our dinner.) This chicken we are about to eat was killed, too. (Kicking myself again as soon as I said it.)

Scott: How do they kill the chickens?

(I had just watched Food, Inc. so "how they kill the chickens" was all too fresh in my head.)

I tried to wrap up the conversation as I cut into the chicken we were about to eat. I wrinkled my nose since it was a thicker piece than I wanted.

Scott looked at me with the most disgusted/terrified look and asked, "Is it still alive?"

A few times lately while Scott has been playing in the basement he's called up the stairs with, "Mommy?! Are you okay up there?"

"I want to be a super hero without pants!"

"Daddy might have to fix it because he knows how to do everything in the world."

Scott (while eating breakfast): Did you have trouble sleeping last night?

Me: No, why did you ask me that?

Scott: Oh...I was just checking.

"Can you tell me even more about God please?" (He asked me this on the way home from BSF. He likes to ask this type of question while we're driving...more about combines, concrete mixers, Bible stories, etc.) It delighted my heart to hear this question though.

A day planned by Scott: When getting dressed one morning, Scott randomly told me, "Today I think we should vacuum, go to Meijer, work on my "f" sound, and play in the basement." (His f's sound like p's so we've been working on that!)

When tucking Scott in at night, he has mastered the art of stalling. A few nights ago as I was trying to make my way out of his door he said, "I need to ask you one thing. (Thinking, thinking, stalling...) How do the power lines get the power to our house?"

So I answered his question to the best of my ability, to which he immediately responded, "I just need to tell you five more things." (GOODNIGHT, SCOTT!...RUN!)

Happy half way to four birthday!

Busy (body)

I have seven good reasons why I've been slacking a bit on my blog postings...

Reason #7: Natalie is now an eager participant during Playdough time.

Reason #6: Potatoes. "Mom, if you're not going to cook them, then I am going to play with them!" (Scott had a front row seat to watch Natalie get into mischief!)

Reason #5: Cookie sheets. "Mom, if you are not going to cook with them, then I am going to play with them. "

Reason #4: Natalie has a whole bookshelf full of books, but she prefers to pull Daddy's off of his shelf. Here, we found her reading Jon's "Mobile Field Force" manual from the police academy. It captured her interest for quite awhile (a.k.a. two full minutes- a long time for this girl to stay in one spot).

Reason #3: Beans. What was I thinking?!? We are STILL finding beans and lentils.

Reason #2: I was feeling pretty good about myself one Sunday morning as I was finishing up reorganizing a pen/junk drawer BEFORE church! I then turned into the living room to discover this. Only true couponers will be able to feel the extent of my pain. My entire coupon book was emptied and resorted. Thanks Daughter Dearest! :)

Reason #2: Goldfish crackers. Need I say more?

Reason #1: We have a full fledged busy body!

And we love her to pieces! :)
