Pool-time and Play-time

What a whirlwind of a week!  We had swim lessons in the mornings and music camp in the afternoons.  The girls were sad to see the week come to an end and had a great time!

Natalie loved playing the role of "Marisa" in the church play.  She thought it was cool that she got to wear a headset microphone!  She made so many memories with friends- old and new!
Kate had two roles in the play.  She was a backup dancer for a pop-star singer (hints the sparkly shirt).

Kate was also a friendly bear!  The girls thought this was the greatest because despite the other campers being scared of the bear, Marisa wasn't scared at all.  The girls embraced in the final scene and did the dance to the last song.  Loved it!

Whack-a-Cousin

It had been way too long since the cousins have all been able to get together.

After exchanging a few hugs and pleasantries, a samurai fight commenced.

My mom has always enjoyed whacking children with wrapping paper rolls!:)  As a child, I remember that she would sometimes emerge from the bedroom after wrapping Christmas gifts and would come at Derek and I with an empty paper roll.  Now that she has five grandchildren, she must have had to save up from a few Christmases for this mega fight!  That's a lot of wrapping paper!

Grandpa's stick was the first to break!

Thankfully, no one was (seriously!) injured during this battle, and I think a rematch may take place in the future.

On a different note- equally as picture worthy- my parents just returned from a very hot, memorable trip to Utah where they were able to visit The Wave and get this amazing picture...

We have a TEENAGER!

It's official.  Scott is now a teen.

He received some techy music items for his birthday- cords, speakers, and gadgets that I don't understand to aid in his production of music!

I have found myself telling Scott often, "You are so much like your dad!"  I say this in a good way- he's very organized, sequential, responsible, and hard working...just like Jon.

Happy Birthday, Scott!

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL

And just like that- another school year is in the books.

Natalie is ELEVEN!

In typical Natalie fashion, the birthDAY turned into her birthMONTH.  That's okay- we like celebrating this special girl!

Her class was taking a week long field trip that was certainly not the highlight of the year.  Couple that with having to wear a mask, and it wasn't the best way to spend a birthday.  We gave her the option to stay home, and she debated so much.  She wanted to...but was it the right thing?  Would she miss anything important?  She finally decided to just stay home for the day, and her teachers were so encouraging which helped her to feel much better about her choice.  Kate's already making plans for October.  We told her IF her class has a field trip that day and IF she has to wear a mask all day, THEN we can talk about it!:)
Happy Birthday, Natalie!:)

MORE May Moments

Although not the greatest pictures from the back of the awards ceremony, Natalie & Kate both received special awards including the All A Honor Roll.

Natalie was honored to receive The Cougar Award for her grade.  We were excited for her!

And one more quick story about these stellar girls!  I was recently garage sale-ing with them.  (Hooray- the season has begun!)  The girls decided to just stay in the van at a sale that didn't look that promising from the street.  I ran up and ended up seeing some nice things, so I motioned for the girls to come.  Only Natalie got out of the van, and as I held things up, she kept saying, "Nah" to all of them.  I once again waved for Kate to come up, but she didn't budge.  I made a couple of purchases and then returned to the van.

"Kate, why wouldn't you come to that one?"

Both girls were put out.  Kate said, "MOM!  Didn't you see it?  There was a big Biden/Harris sign in their garage!"  Natalie said, "Yeah...I was trying to get you to notice.  That's why I was saying no to everything."

 No further comment.   :)

May Moments

May was a whirlwind!  Lots of trips to and from school for all of the ceremonies and programs that come in the final month of the school year.

Scott continues to improve on the saxophone and enjoys playing with the band.

Scott received some special awards on Academic Awards Night in addition to the All A Honor Roll.  Yay, Scott!:)

Here's a picture of Kate with her second grade teacher...

Kate & Natalie had solos during the Spring Concert.  La la LA laaaaaa....

Jon took Scout to Pet Day.  Scout didn't fare as well as the kids did with their awards.  She lost to a dog named Hank the Tank who wore a tie.  She will need to up her game for next year.

More "May Moments" coming soon...
