Jon's dear grandmother suddenly passed away in February. She was 92 and was living independently. She was a very sweet and special lady who knew the Lord, and we are so thankful that we will be able to see her again someday in Heaven.
I took her picture with the kids just two months earlier at Christmas time. As I took it, she said, "This isn't going to end up on a calendar, is it?" (I regularly gave her a Shutterfly calendar with pictures on it. She had (politely) told me in the past that she didn't care for big pictures of our dog or herself on the calendar pages!:)
Kate continues to keep us well fed with her new creations!The girls were excellent help when it came to teaching P.E. at the co-op. They took it upon themselves to research and plan fun games for the students there! Soooo helpful to me! We attended the homeschool convention in Cincinnati, and Jon was thrilled to meet John Lovell.
And for the records...in early February, my tooth fell out which has been a bit of an ordeal. Here's the quick version so I don't forget...(although perhaps I would be better forgetting)...
When I was a freshman in high school and was trying to be cool, I started hurdling a tennis net. I cleared it a couple of times, but on the third attempt, my foot caught the net, and I face-planted on the court. A few weeks later when I was away at cheerleading camp, my front teeth turned brown. Talk about mortifying for a freshman girl amongst cheerleaders!:) So I ended up having a double root canal and fake teeth placed.
Several years later, these teeth gave me issues again, and I had to have a retreatment of the root canals. By then I had delivered three children naturally and could confidently say that these teeth caused more pain than medication-free childbirth.
So in February of this year, I started having slight sensitivity in one tooth. I made an appointment to be seen, but the weekend before my exam, I was biting into a soft taco, and my fake tooth came off and the remaining bit of tooth underneath cracked. My dentist saw me on Saturday morning and tried to help with the pain. Then on Monday, I saw an oral surgeon who decided to do an extraction, bone graft, and implant. I received a temporary tooth tray to wear which was pretty awful. Thankfully, in May, I received a temporary tooth while I wait for more healing to take place.
Shortly after this occurred, I started having recurring nightmares again about my teeth falling out. Then, I started having nightmares about being in different locations and forgetting to have my tooth tray in. It's funny how the brain works!
Moral of the story- tennis nets are not for hurdling. I'm still in the process of the learning the lesson the hard way.
Instead of a big picture of me without a tooth, I will end with a picture of Scout!:) She celebrated her 6th birthday in February. I asked her how she felt about getting older and this was her response...
