Natalie recently had the chance to be "Mary" in her school Easter play. Such a sweet presentation put on by the kindergartners!
The kids saw an ad for a humongous inflatable water
slide/pool thing for the backyard. They were talking about pooling
their money to buy it and then realized that even then, they would not
come close to affording it. Kate came up to me and asked, "Can we have
lots and lots of money?" I told her to ask her dad. She found Jon
downstairs and very seriously asked him the same question. :) I have a
feeling this won't be the only time in our lives we are asked for "lots
of money" from this little girl.
What talent! Perhaps playing his songs upside down will come in useful someday.

Natalie: (in reference to Kate) Why don't you ever consequence her?
Natalie handed me yet another card. I opened it and read it aloud, "I
love you, Mommy!" Natalie said, "That's really the only thing that I
know how to spell that's sweet." :)
Kate was eating a piece of chocolate from her Easter Egg Hunt.
Me: One more, but then NO MORE CHOCOLATE for the rest of the day!
Kate: Then can I just have ganilla? (vanilla)
The kids took it upon themselves to "clean"/organize the food on the shelves one night. It might have been a scheme to stay up late. It worked.
Kate to Scott: We've got to find Natalie and punch her in the face! (Could my sweet 3 year old say such a thing??!)
The older two kids recently brought me their money jars and said that they wanted to buy a new "sleep friend." Scott quickly selected a stuffed John Deere tractor. Natalie searched for quite some time, but couldn't find something she could afford on Amazon. She said, "I keep having enough cents, but not enough dollars." :) Finally, she found a Shopkins plush toy that she wanted to buy.
Kate saw what was going on and asked to buy something too. I told her to bring me her money container. She brought it in, but it only had two pennies left inside. After thorough investigation, I come to find out that Big Brother and Big Sister had something to do with this. They had been selling their old, discarded toys to Kate in exchange for her money! She was a pleasant customer to do business with evidently and never turned down an offer. Moreover, I learned that Natalie had also been charging Kate coins whenever she got out of bed after being tucked in at night. Kate, who frequently gets up to tell me "one more thing" was being fined for this behavior by Big Sister. Natalie took it upon herself to do this and was pocketing the profit!

Scott made these brownies ALL BY HIMSELF. I sat in the other room and listened to him talk through all of the steps with Kate.
*For those (Grandmas) who may be concerned, I did help Scott put the brownies into the oven.
They were quite tasty. I tried to think the best of his egg cracking abilities. Hopefully there won't be any crunchy bites in future snacking. So far, so good!
Jon asked Scott how he learned to do such a thing. Scott said, "I read the directions on the back of the box." (Duh! implied but not spoken)
If this isn't college resume material, than I don't know what is!:)
On Monday, the kids played in the snow.
Today, Kate asked me for sunscreen, Natalie convinced me she was fine in
short sleeves, and Scott begged for a picnic on the back porch. Gotta
love the ever changing weather!
Kate loves to go to Bible Study Fellowship and asks me regularly if it's Tuesday. She credits everything she knows to BSF. "I learned it at BSF." (Even things that I'm sure were never mentioned while she was there, Kate always chalks it up to learning it at BSF!:) She talks about two friends that she's made there...Livi and Heartbox. I'm not sure if they are imaginary or if their names just sound similar to this, but she's been consistent with her Livi and Heartbox stories for quite sometime.
Scott's been into taking things apart recently in order to fix them. Sometimes I come away amazed at what he's able to fix or figure out. Other times, I want to pull out my hair because he has "fixed" something that didn't need to be fixed (until now, if you get my drift).
Scott asked if he and Natalie could take Kate on a walk through the woods "to teach her about creation."
Current Parenting Battle Across the Board with All 3 Kids: Bath night- I've come to dread it. On days my children stink, you will know who won.
Scott's getting serious about his keyboard. He's on the market for a pedal next. He plays almost everyday. While he does not enjoy practicing his assigned piano songs, he does love to play by ear and seems to have a talent for it.
Kate and Scott are popcorn buddies. It's their thing. Scott pops a bowl while Kate gets their pillows set up. Then, they watch Curious George. We have seen all of the Curious George episodes numerous times. Kate says, "He's a funny monkey."
Scott has been noticing several "LOST DOG" signs around our area. In all seriousness, he suggested that we start going around looking for all of the lost dogs and that could be how our family earns money. He said that if we could find the $1,000 dog, we could take some time off for awhile. Ha!
I'm in the process of preparing to get Lasik done (actually LASEK). Down side- I have to wear my glasses for the next month. On my first day of wearing glasses, one of my honest children informed me that I don't look as nice with glasses. Thanks for the confidence booster, Child Dearest! Only four more weeks to go... (I decided against posting a selfie below, but will instead leave you with Natalie.)
One fan threw a fit because she wanted a number eighteen on her shirt too, and then did not share in the team spirit- she wanted a picture ALL BY HERSELF!!
Scott recently had career day at school. It was so cute! If you can't tell by the outfit, Scott gave his talk on being a farmer.
Natalie: Mommy, you're invited to my hop party, but I'm not so sure you'd like it. You have to hop and jiggle.
(I must not have had that hopping and jiggling look in my eye.)
Natalie got an Accelerated Reader certificate in chapel last week and was just a teensy bit excited about it!:)

Scott told me that he created new earmuffs. Good thing he's not planning on being an inventor when he grows up. Stick with farming, Scott!:)
The crew at 3, 5, & 7
Jon and I finally got smart phones. I've loved having the camera and the ability to type in the kids' quips into my phone as soon as they say them. However, getting them onto the computer in blog form has been a harder task. Here goes...
We took a trip to the museum just after Christmas. It was one of Scott's big requests to do while on break. When asked what part he was most looking forward to, he said that he couldn't wait to go in the elevator. That was sure one expensive elevator ride. We ended up buying a year's membership so that we can partake in such fun again soon.
Scott bought Natalie a ring from the school's Holiday Shop prior to Christmas and was so excited for her to open it. When she opened it on Christmas morning, Scott excitedly said, "So when you get married, you won't need to buy one. AND...it only cost $4 and it usually costs like $100, so I'm saving you a lot of money!
Natalie: Well...that's nice!
The kids continue to play "God's Best Church" multiple times a week- sermons, singing, interpretive dancing and all! It delights my heart to hear them say, "Let's have a GBC service!" and then run downstairs and start practicing. They belt out praise songs and tell different Bible stories. I must admit that the services do run a bit on the long side, so I sometimes cringe inside when I get invited (yet again!). However, these are certainly memories I'm sure I will cherish someday.

Kate: I don't know. What?
Me: He drives around in a....?
Kate: Gator!

And as usual, the dressing to go out in the snow takes much longer than the actual playtime in the snow.
The gator saves the day again!:) Scott was thrilled that they needed to get it out.

Natalie's been wreaking havoc on any new year's resolution healthy
eating plans. She keeps wanting to check out cookie and cupcake books
from the library. It's hard to think about lettuce when I keep picking
up treat books!
Kate had scooted a chair over to her dresser and was climbing up when I caught her. She said, "I found something to do that's not dangerous."
Ready for spring already... :)
